What I Ate in a Day in Johor Bahru (JB) - Review of The Wagyu Tavern

Part 1: Brunch (GrabFood – Roast & Coffee)

Stayed in for brunch and ordered from Roast & Coffee via GrabFood. I had the Double Lava Egg Curry Toast — warm, messy, and super comforting. Also got their Nasi Lemak with boneless fried chicken. The chicken wasn’t as crispy as I’d hoped, but it was tender and flavourful. Ended the meal with their Honey Toast, which hit the sweet spot. Washed everything down with a Kopi C and Cham C — classic and satisfying.

Part 2: Dinner – The Wagyu Tavern

Went all out for my birthday dinner at The Wagyu Tavern, and it was pure indulgence. The highlight? Their A5 Wagyu — served gold bar-style, rich, buttery, and literally melted in the mouth. On top of that, we had succulent lobsters, abalone, fresh oysters, and a beautifully arranged sashimi platter that came with a dramatic mist. Paired everything with a glass of sake, which brought out the flavours perfectly. An unforgettable birthday feast.

Final Thoughts

Day 3 was all about comfort and celebration — from a chill brunch in bed to a lavish dinner that pulled out all the stops. JB really delivered on both ends of the food spectrum, and this birthday meal will definitely be one for the books.
